Promium celebrates ten years of improving lab operations with laboratory information systems (LIMS) software.

BOTHELL, WA, February 5, 2009 - Promium LLC has announced that the company achieved a major milestone in celebrating over ten years of serving the testing laboratory community with LIMS software and services.

Back in 1998, former chemists, analysts and lab managers assembled the components of an information management system. That system was commercialized as Element DataSystem. and has now been installed in over two hundred laboratories across North America and Asia with over three thousand users.

"Promium was born in the testing lab, and we share a common DNA with our customers," said Scot Cocanour, co-founder and Promium CEO. "We have first hand knowledge of the workflow, the challenges, and the opportunities to improve lab performance." Over the last decade, Promium has focused almost exclusively on labs that primarily test soil, water and air. Because of that focus, the company has been able to tightly align products and services with the needs of laboratories in those segments.

Promium targets commercial and public sector laboratories that seek greater efficiency, robust quality management and shorter turn-around times. The company has been successful in coupling a deep knowledge of the lab with strong software development and a flexible technology platform.

"Other LIMS available in the market and most home-grown systems tend to be overly complex or rely too much on customization," said CTO and co-founder Buddy Wilson. "With Element, we designed a system that is very configurable, so it really is capable of meeting most of the laboratory’s requirements without significant customization." In addition to desktop software, Promium also offers data hosting and a SaaS (software as a service) delivery model as well as consulting services.
